A compact form of Devil's bit Scabious 'Buttermilk' is a rosette-forming, rhizomatous, deciduous perennial with ovate grey-green leaves and branched, wiry stems bearing pincushion-like, cream to pale yellow flower heads from midsummer into Autumn. The airy sprays of flower persist through late summer and attract bees and butterflies. Lovely with autumn colouring grasses such as Molinia.
Happy in most moist, well-drained garden soils in full sun. Requires little maintenance apart from cutting back at the end of the season for new growth to appear the following Spring.
