Also known as Keeled Garlic or Witches Garlic, this is one of the smaller ornamental specialty varieties of Allium with a mop of beautiful purple blooms, each flower containing over 50 florets. Flowers late July through to September and will re-seed if left to sow. Slender stems with grass like leaves which are usually retained throughout the year, although can be deciduous in colder areas. Ideal for border fronts and rockeries. Loves sun and not fussy on soils, can be poor and dry. Needs very little care and can also be used as cut flowers - flowers also retain their colour when dried. Loved by bees and pollinators.
