This unusual, hardy, first year flowering perennial bears curious-shaped flowers in brick-red with yellow edging, almost like a mini sombrero! Native to the American prairies, plants are drought-resistant and make a useful addition to sunny borders, wild flower meadows, city and courtyard areas and gravel gardens. Grow in dry, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil in full sun. Makes an ideal cut flower.
