A pretty low growing, clump forming wild flower with a dense, fibrous root system. Heart shaped leaves that usually cup to form a funnel shape. Prefers shady areas with moist soil where is will self seed and spread with time. Delicate flowers appear mid-May, usually purple but can range to blue and almost white. Require very little care or maintenance. Violet flowers and leaves are edible with the leaves containing high levels of vitamin A and C. They can be used in salads or cooked as greens.
