The plants start blooming soon after the foliage emerges from the ground. The flowers are solitary, produced on short stems, held above the foliage. Lovely white blooms during daylight hours which close up at dusk to reveal a pretty pink tinged underside. They grow from underground root-like stems called rhizomes and the foliage dies back down by mid Summer (Summer dormant). The rhizomes spread just below the soil surface, forming long spreading clumps that grow quickly, contributing to its rapid spread in woodland conditions, where they often carpet large areas.
Height: approx 9 cms including flower, spreads over time by seed and rhizomes.
Third pictures show a set of rhizomes as an example of size whilst in leaf and dormant - 10 will be sent per order. Please note that these are Spring plants and will only be posted in leaf dependent on the time of year. Rhizomes will be lifted to order and posted bare root. Please plant in final flowering position upon receipt and keep well watered until established next Spring.
