This beautiful eye catching hardy, deciduous shrub has very finely divided, pinnate variegated leaves with a yellow margin. Frothy panicles of tiny, scented, white flowers in summer are followed by round, glossy, black fruit in Autumn.
Flowers are great for bees and other pollinators and it's berries are loved by birds. It looks good when planted on its own or as part of a hedge. To produce the best coloured leaves and to keep the shrub a smaller size, prune plants back hard every year in early Spring (bear in mind this may be at the expense of flowers and fruit). For best results, grow in moist but well drained soil in full sun to partial shade. However, it will tolerate waterlogged or very chalky ground.
