A striking plant with feathery leaves and tall airy stems topped with vibrant yellow flowers, reminiscent of a sombrero hat, with drooping petals around a prominent central cone. Reliable and long flowering from early summer to autumn.
A native of Mexico and North America this plant is ideal for prairie type planting or a wildflower garden, it is very drought tolerant once established and thrives on well drained soil in full sun. It is also loved by pollinators. Although a perennial it is usually grown as an annual in the UK.
