Orthrosanthus chimboracensis is a Central American perennial with narrow strappy leaves arising from short, woody rhizomes. It has beautiful saucer-shaped, blue flowers in loose, terminal spikes which bloom in late spring and early summer. Hardy in the South of the UK but can be overwintered in an unheated greenhouse if needed. Grow in gritty, well drained soil in sun.
