Pulmonaria are one of those old fashioned garden perennials that seem to be once again gaining popularity. They are a shade loving plant which like moist but well drained soil in shade or semi shade, sun exposure should be either dappled or morning sun, so under deciduous trees is ideal. 'Sissinghurst White' is an herbaceous perennial to 30cm, forming a clump of heavily white-spotted ovate leaves, with leafy stems bearing a terminal cluster of pure white flowers opening from pink buds.
Please be aware, while all species can be propagated by seed, named varieties won’t necessarily come true and, as they are extremely promiscuous, hybrids will often occur.
Common name Lungwort, they are an early Spring flowering hardy perennial which are semi-evergreen. Blooms are very attractive to bees and other pollinators, providing much needed early nectar. RHS 'Perfect for Pollinators' status.
