A beautiful deep crimson red day lily with star shaped blooms appearing during the Summer, each around 4 inches wide. Pretty mound of arching leaves surround the stem. Each bloom last no more than 24 hrs, hence the common name, opening in the morning and withering the following night, but continues to produce secondary flowers on the same stalk. To encourage reblooming, remove spent flowers and seed pods. Plant dies completely over Winter and should be cut back before new growth returns during the following Spring.
Often classed as the perfect perennial as it is drought resistant, heat resistive, grows in most hardy zones and very low care requirements. Forms clumps over time and makes a stunning addition to mixed and herbaceous borders. Likes full sun or partial shade in average soils. Loved by bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Height: 75 cms Spread: 30 - 60 cms over time
Plant will be lifted from a 2 litre pot and posted bare root. Please plant immediately upon receipt and keep well watered until established.
